Background

Traditionally, farmers in the hill tracts area have very limited scope to preserve their harvested agro-produces (Potato) due to lack of storage facility. Around 30% of the agro-products are being wastage at home. It pushes them to sell the harvested products at a nominal price at the local market once in a week, which is at least 25-30 percent lower than the product cost. As a result, farmers in hill tracts suffer from extreme poverty.

With a view to overcome the poverty, ECo-Develoment and ALO have been addressing on the need of food security to ensure their livelihood of the poor farmers by preserving their products (Potato) in the natural storage.
