Background
‘Making Markets Work for Smallholder Farmers and Rural Producers’ project was also known as the ‘Shomparka’ project. The project is EU funded project with duration of 5 years (April 2007 to March 2012) and was implemented by Practical Action Bangladesh in association with its 16 partner NGOs (4 core partners and 12 associate partners).
Tasks
The study analyzed following issues of the project:

Evaluate the effectiveness of PMSD approach integrated in this project and its impact on rural market transformation at value chain level, policy level and service delivery system.

Evaluate whether the project has achieved its objectives.
|
•
|
Analyze sustainability, adaptability, institutional sustainability of different models and multiplier effects.
|
•
|
Examine the level of cost effectiveness of the activities implemented under the project, use of budget and budget management etc.
|
•
|
Assess the appropriateness of various components and interventions of the project, innovations, adaptive capacity with emerging need learned during the implementation, strength and weaknesses in implementation modality, partnership with PNGOs, institutions staffing, reporting etc.

|
Analyze the project activities monitoring system, its appropriateness, efficiency, relevancy and consistency and its impact on the project

|
Document learning of the project, shortfalls and recommend ways to build on this constructively for future M4P projects.
