Background

The key purpose of this Stakeholder Policy Consultation is to identify key stakeholders (including supply chain actors, government, trade associations, NGOs etc) that will help Traidcraft Exchange (TX) to understand the overall policy environment in which the key stakeholders operate.

Specific objectives are:

•	To understand the various respective roles that the various stakeholders play in the current policy structure;
•	To identify areas where gaps in policies exist and where there are opportunities to intervene;
•	To prepare a policy advocacy plan for growers and producers associations, consisting of information on key current policy issues what potential changes, if any, can be brought about at the policy level, which parties are going to be involved in the process, and what sort of strategies would have to be applied in order to strengthen and maximize project impact.
•	To identify means to build the capacity of partners and local networks so that they can understand the need and advocate pro-poor policy structure and where a favorable policy environment and sensitivity of the Government are very crucial.
